NIC STAFFIERI
Staffieri had the unfortunate task of competing in the most star-studded region in the state. If he were to have played in any other region, you could be looking at a MVP candidate. Staffieri led a Pleasant Grove squad to a 6-6 record, many of those loses coming down to the wire against the juggernauts of the state.

WADE STILSON
Stilson gave us quite the performance in the semi-final matchup vs San Juan. They gave an extremely talented Broncos squad all they handle. Without really catching the public eye Stilson lit up the stat sheet weekly. By season’s end he tossed for 32 TDs, oh and guess what? He is back again next season for more.

SKYLER ARMENTA
Armenta was overlooked by me and others, most likely because he does not fit the mold of an average drop-back QB. Armenta found his niche as a running back lining up behind the center. The Pirates may not have accumulated a lot of wins, but Armenta lit up the stat cheat, particularly in the rushing category. He ran for 1,500 yards and a whopping 16 touchdowns. I am excited to see what he will accomplish in his senior year.

FREDDIE TA’AI
Technically Ta’ai was one of the four finalists for 6A QB of the Year, but even still it seems he has not received enough recognition for his efforts last season. The Mustangs did not have a successful season, at least to their standards. But, they certainly have a lot of hope going into next season thanks to the exciting play of their quarterback Ta’ai.

NATE DAHLE
Ridgeline showed last season that their culture is built to last. Kudos to that coaching staff for their efforts in 2022. Dahle assisted his team in not skipping a beat after losing an onslaught of seniors last season. Under the radar, the young Dahle carved up defenses and won hard-fought battles late in games. He did all of this as a FRESHMAN. This will not be the last time you hear this kids name.

COOPER THOMSON
If we are being honest you could make an argument the whole Cedar Valley team was a little underrated in 2022. They lived in the shadow of a great Stansbury team that dominated their region. Thomson threw for 24 touchdowns and 2,600 yards in the season. Excited to see what the future holds for him.

JAXSON REISER
Reiser is a junior quarterback that led Mountain Ridge to a successful season. They are a young team with a lot of talent coming back next season. The Sentinels were one of the most exciting teams to watch last season. It is fair to say that Reiser’s okay was overshadowed by their excellent run game. But quietly Reiser got it done through the air and on the ground. Keep an eye out for him next year.

GRIFFEN BONE
Lastly, we have Griffen Bone of Kanab. Unlike some of these other quarterbacks, Bone did not stuff the stat sheet but showed his worth in the brightest moments. The 2022 Kanab team adopted the cardiac cowboys nickname because they tended to shock the world in the waning minutes of the game. Who led the charge? Griffen Bone. Let’s see if he can keep it up next year.
